Health and wellness has always been Jennifer’s passion. After having lived in North America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, Jennifer gained insight on the different aspects of health that varies from culture to culture. She was drawn to discover each culture’s unique traditions surrounding food, which in turn broadened her culinary knowledge and deepened her fascination.
Whilst living in Indonesia, Jennifer completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Awakened Life School of Yoga in 2013. Trained in Active Vinyasa Flow and Restorative, she also has experience in Hatha, Ashtanga, Yin and Vinyasa Flow.
At the end of 2014, whilst living in Oman, Jennifer created the plant-based food blog Reaching for Greens. Her goal was to offer a place where people could discover easy vegetarian recipes that complimented the everyday cook. Her blog posts reflect current health topics and aim in creating a space where individuals could learn about different aspects of health. Jennifer believes that healthy habits begin in the kitchen and her mission is show how easy that is to obtain. Reaching for Greens serves as a platform to offer nutritional knowledge, holistic wellness tips and simple, yet mouth-watering recipes.
After moving to Toronto, Jennifer attended The Institute of Holistic Nutrition at the North York Campus. Alongside this, she obtained a certificate in Applied Endocrinology where she grasped the importance of hormones and their many roles in the maintenance of good health and the development of disease. More specifically, disease like diabetes, hyper/hypothyroidism, osteoporosis, as well as the growth of certain cancers that are directly and indirectly affected by hormones in the body.
Jennifer also obtain a certificate in Fat Loss – Research & Practical Applications. Here, she mastered the role macronutrients play in metabolism, as well as gained knowledge on fat cell anatomy, endocrine functions and health markers that contribute to the ever-growing obesity epidemic. Jennifer acquired skills in dietary manipulation to increase fat burning and designed exercise & supplementation protocols to encourage weight-loss.
Having personally experienced adrenal fatigue and overcoming thyroid issues of her own, Jennifer understands the struggle associated with prolonged emotional and physical stress, weight management, sleep disturbances and the negative affects they have on the mind, body and soul. Jennifer believes that small lifestyle changes can lead to holistic health, happiness and balance.
